The New Year offers a mixed bag of anticipation and nostalgia, and so this round, set to a poem by the same name by V. H. Friedlaender, is set with a mixture of modal and major harmonies that sound familiar but a bit unsettled.

Suitable for three individuals or larger groups in any octave, this round is part of my Gathering Rounds project, a spiral-bound book featuring 52 rounds for a variety of skills and voicings set to text by female-identifying writers and poets. Every month, a free round is uploaded here and distributed to my email list (join my email list here)!

Please feel free to copy, forward, distribute, and perform this round with attribution as the only requirement: link to my website, tag me on social media, and use the hashtag #gatheringrounds. Send me a recording or video if you like – would love to hear all these and would be happy to share on all my channels!
