Humorous poet, Alfred Denis Godley (1826 - 1925), put pen to paper more than 100 years ago to write this timeless homage to and complaint about the Christmas season. Despite the joy and celebration of the occasion, many among us will find much that is true in the light-hearted description of hustle, bustle, and general disruption to the daily routine. It would take only one or two word substitutions that more accurately reflect our modern age to feel as if this poem was written yesterday.
