SSAA a cappella with soprano soloist and double bass
Duration: ca. 4:15

Praised by Oregon Arts Watch as “striking,” this harmonically lush piece is set to the text of Homer’s Odyssey, when the Sirens first sing to Odysseus: “Oduseu, deur a’gion,” or “Odysseus, come hither.” The double bass represents Odysseus’ ship and its inhabitants, as they sail into and row through the tempting channel of the Sirens. Winner of Portland State University’s 2012 Choral Composition Competition.
